TOPIC: Poltergeist: Angry Spirit or RSPK?

Poltergeist: Angry Spirit or RSPK? 13 years, 12 months ago #1

What is everyone's opinion of what a poltergeist actually is? Is it an angry spirit aka noisy spirit or does it have to do with a human agent using RSPK (Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis) please let me know what you believe one to be.

Poltergeist is German for "angry ghost." And just like it sounds, poltergeist is a loose umbrella term for an intelligent haunting where the entity is aware of the current inhabitants and does what it can to get their attention. This can include human and non-human spirits.
"Dead men have no need of pretense. What I seek is truth, light beyond light beyond Light. There are those who will tell you a different story. Who is to say which is right? But this I know: what I've seen with the naked eye has been fantasy, perhaps; but what I've known with the heart has been truth." ~Awakening Osiris

Actually Poltergeist means "Noisy" ghost. From the Germany "Poltern" (to make noise) and "Giest" or Ghost.

For a full explanation please see the excellent Wiki article here: Wiki Page

You actually bring up a excellent question with the RSPK, and I don't think the question is limited simply to Poltergeist activity but any paranormal activity in general.

The question being this. When we have physical response to paranormal activity, is it really the spirit itself which is manifesting the physical response? Or is it somehow using some dormant part in our own minds which has Psychokinetic capabilities to manipulate physical objects?

The same question could arise in instances where there is physical evidence often attributed to demonic entities. Scratches, Whelps and other physical manifestations which appear in those instances. Are they caused by the entity themselves, or are they produced by our minds which are being harassed or controlled by these entities.

There has been considerable research into the phenomena of hypnotic manipulation. One instance is where a hypnotized subject is told that their hand is being placed in boiling water when in fact its just placed in room temperature water. Out of those cases, 10% go on to form some manner of blistering on their finger or hand. Reference Article HERE

Could the same type of thing be happening in some cases where it pertains to the paranormal. Great question and great topic. Thanks for bringing this up.

Now you do realize that our old buddy Sigmund Freud would write a whole dissertation on that little slip, right?

i honestly believe poltergeist activity is the holy grail of paranormal things. In parapsychology, Nandor Fodor proposed that poltergeist disturbances were caused by human agents suffering from some form of emotional stress or tension. alot of it is caused from a girl coming into teenage-hood. poltergeists have traditionally been described in folklore as troublesome spirits or ghosts which haunt a particular person, hence the name. Poltergeist activity has often been believed to be the work of malicious ghosts.

Activity like that can be caused by the living and the dead. Rarer for the living but the telekinesis theory does make some sense combined with residual energy given off by said person sounds like a recipe for some weird things.
